On BMX' latest recording "Bergen Open", standard roles and structures have been exchanged with a true will to take chances. Since the band's inception as a trio in 2006, initially modelled after the Motian-Frisell-Lovano trio, BMX soon took a path of their own. Sometimes fusing jazz - whatever that is - with rock, contemporary classical music influences, country... Always blurring the lines between what is composition and what is improvisation.

Besides trumpet/vocal/percussion icon Per Jørgensen, BMX also consists of drummer Øyvind Skarbø, an up-and-coming force on the Norwegian scene. He also plays in the band 1982 alongside ECM-favourite Nils Økland, and enjoys long-term association with Kresten Osgood and Hilmar Jensson.

Njål Ølnes on tenor saxophone composes most of the group's fixed material. An excellent educator that also plays with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra.

Award-winning guitarist Thomas Dahl is one of Europe's most diversed musicians, always retaining his unique voice. A great contributor to BMX' genre busting style.
